Think180™ has developed the following list of success factors based on our years of experience with these workshops. We use these factors as our guidelines to help maximize the potential for success and effectiveness of the learning and subsequent implementation by participants and client workgroups.

Preparation

  • Company requirements and individual needs are reviewed prior to workshop
  • Outcomes expected to result from workshop are clearly defined with sponsor
  • Duration and depth of workshop appropriate to company and individual needs
  • Enablers and obstacles to implementation of learning are identified prior to workshop

Participation

  • Participants at each MER workshop have at least one common basis, which may be:
    1. all have either horizontal or vertical responsibility in the outsourcing lifecycle
    2. all belong to the same team, workgroup, or have similar job functions
    3. attend under endorsement and direction of a common senior manager
    4. have similar learning needs for the subject at hand
    5. have similar levels of experience with delivery management
  • Participants develop and submit descriptions of problems and issues in advance
  • Participation is limited to those who can attend the entire workshop time
  • Attention to other work issues during class time is minimized and limited to breaks
  • Requirement of attendance is a positive approach and willingness to learn

Management

  • Group manager supports and participates in the workshop with open mind
  • Unresolved issues regarding participants' ongoing work roles are addressed
  • Issues stemming from existing vendor agreements may not be solved by training
  • Company processes are in place that enable effective vendor management
